Comments
When visitors leave comments on the site, I collect the data shown in the comments form, along with the visitor’s IP address and browser user agent string to help with spam detection.
An anonymized string (hash) created from your email address may be provided to the Gravatar service to check if you are using it. You can view the Gravatar privacy policy here: https://automattic.com/privacy. Once your comment is approved, your profile picture may be visible publicly in the context of your comment.
Media
If you upload images to the website, please avoid embedding location data (EXIF GPS). Visitors to the site may download and extract location data from images.
Cookies
If you leave a comment, you may opt-in to saving your name, email address, and website in cookies. These are for your convenience and last for one year.
If you visit my login page, I will set a temporary cookie to check if your browser accepts cookies. This cookie contains no personal data and is discarded when you close your browser.
When you log in, I set cookies to save your login info and screen display preferences. Login cookies last for two days; screen options cookies last for one year. If you select “Remember Me,” your login persists for two weeks. Logging out removes these cookies.
If you edit or publish an article, an additional cookie will be saved in your browser. This cookie contains no personal data and simply records the post ID of the article you edited. It expires after one day.
Embedded content from other websites
Articles on this site may include embedded content (e.g., videos, images, articles). Embedded content from other websites behaves as if you visited that site directly.
These external sites may collect data, use cookies, embed third-party tracking, and monitor your interaction with their content—especially if you’re logged in to their platform.
Who we share your data with
If you request a password reset, your IP address will be included in the reset email.
How long we retain your data
If you leave a comment, the comment and its metadata are retained indefinitely. This helps me recognize and approve follow-up comments automatically.
For registered users (if applicable), I store the personal information provided in their profile. All users can view, edit, or delete their personal data at any time (except usernames). I can also view and edit this information as the site administrator.
What rights you have over your data
If you have an account or have left comments, you may request an exported file of the personal data I hold about you. You may also request that I erase any personal data I hold. This does not include data I am required to keep for administrative, legal, or security purposes.
Where your data is sent
Visitor comments may be checked through an automated spam detection service.
